“((audio)) aesthetic strategies” is a non-commercial platform
for research, teaching and cooperation
- ((audio)) is an open research project on sound, music and auditory culture. Since 1997 it has been operating at the intersection of music and media studies, cultural studies and applied breakbeat science.
- ((audio)) develops new research approaches to the design and perception of sounds in current digital sound cultures – and it traces their media genealogies as well as their aesthetic tradition lines.
- ((audio)) questions the implicit knowledge circulating in aesthetic practice. Therefore, the specific aesthetic strategies of current and historical auditory design are to be understood and reflected in teaching and research.
The website coordinates the teaching and research of the core area ((audio)) Aesthetic Strategies at the Institute for Culture and Aesthetics of Digital Media (ICAM) at Leuphana University Lüneburg and its cooperation partners. In addition, it aims to provide an overarching platform for projects and topics, workshops and seminars. ((audio)) is a place for sound cultural research which is independent of short-term third-party funding logic and beyond the boundaries of disciplines and universities.
